We have received a response to the three questions we posed in our 29 January letter to the Vale Council about lorries in the village.

These are the Council’s responses:

1. WHEN WILL THE POSTS BE REPAIRED?
The Operational Manager for Highways and Engineering writes that on or before 22 February he forwarded the information about the posts to the Highways Maintenance Manager to investigate. To date, there has been neither a response nor any action.

2. WHAT ARE THE REASONS FOR NOT PUTTING A STANDARD HIGHWAYS SIGN ON THE A48?
The Operational Manager for Highways and Engineering writes that the Council is unable to address the issues of HGVs ignoring signage.

3. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF AN EMERGENCY VEHICLE NEEDED ACCESS ON 22 JANUARY AND WAS UNABLE TO PASS THE LORRY?
The Operational Manager for Highways and Engineering writes that “we have previously been assured by local emergency services that they can overcome most forms of obstruction when needing to respond to an emergency”.

Hey ho!
